Mod City Gallery: A Fresh Take on MidCentury Art and Design
Mod City Gallery presents new, MidCentury-inspired Art: Paintings, Mixed-Media and Prints that breathe new life into the idea of Mid-Century Art and Design. Mod City Gallery is based in Palm Springs California - the home of Desert Modernism.
MidCentury, visionary Modernist Architects designed sleek, architecture that embraced the desert environment. The dramatic natural surroundings of the Palm Springs region inspired the enduring design aesthetic in the middle of the 20th Century now known as Desert Modernism.
Innovative Palm Springs Architects such as Richard Neutra, John Lautner, Donald Wexler and Albert Frey created a new architectural design vocabulary that lives on - and provides a continual source of inspiration to art of Palm Springs, CA artist Richard Prescott.
Prescott's art takes it's cues from Modernist architectural details as well as MidCentury artists such as Vactor Vasarely, Franz Kline, Mark Rothko and Andy Warhol. The result is a fresh, original look that's also vaguely familiar to Mid-Century art / design enthusiasts and art collectors.
